Uponor thermo twin pre-insulated pipe from the ecoflex range.

Updated: Aug 16

Let's dive into the Uponor thermo twin, our biggest-selling pipe

Here at pre-insulated pipe we are going to take a look at the most popular pipe we have ever sold, Uponor's flow and return, the "ecoflex thermo twin".

Sizes Available

Uponor thermo twin starts at 2x25/175 which as mentioned in our previous blog is (2x25mm pipes housed in a total of 175mm of insulation), 25mm and 32mm are the most popular sizes in this pipe. They size all the way to 2x63/200.

The maximum length that the pipe can be depends on the overall size 25mm 32mm and 40mm are on rolls of up to 200m, the larger 50mm and 63mm come in rolls of a maximum of 100m, anything over these lengths will require a join in the pipe which you can purchase special insulation sets to house these in.

Pipe Construction

Uponor thermo twin pipes are constructed using the highest quality cross-linked polyethylene (PE-Xa) which is oxygen permeable according to ISO17455

this is then enclosed in Uponor's multi layered, ageing resistant closed-cell PE-X foam which has a permanent elasticity.

The outer casing is made from corrugated polyethylene (HDPE) which is certified to take 60 tonnes of weight 0.5m depth.

Pipe layout

The pipe is constructed so this it has a "dogbone" colour scheme that runs through the entire length ensuring there is no confusion when connections are made.

As the names suggests the "ecoflex" range is highly flexible when installing and moving around ( although from experience I can tell you that the larger sizes can be challenging)

Delivery and Schedules

Uponors delivery schedules are usually 3 to five working days direct from the Uponor factory to your site, the pipe is wound in a coil depending on length and larger orders may require a forklift on site to off load (although in all the years we have been supplying this product this have never prevented a delivery, or been an issue for any of our customers, even larger commercial clients)

We will always call you to advise of the current lead times from the factory and keep you up-to speed with your delivery.

What are the main uses?

  • District heating

  • Flow and return

  • Biomass

  • Power plants

  • Remote boilers

  • Outbuildings

What happens if things go wrong?

Should there be an issue with your order, we are here to communicate effectively and quickly to resolve any problems.

This has never really happened in the past, however , Uponor was hit with a cyber attack in 2022 for example that closed all operations for at least 7 days in 2022, this was certainly a challenging time for Uponor as well as for us, however when things like this do occur its good to know your in safe hands and we will manage your order from start t finish.
